The One and The Other 2014

MARTA OSOWSKA PERSSON

The One and  The Other 2014

I approach different gestures and tactile and haptic games. Through a merging of the banal and the forbidden I open up ways to see new perspectives on the depicted act and what is inherent to it. Simultaneously, my paintings are also a way of depicting a multilayered curiosity regarding the body and the flesh. It is an ongoing exploration of inherited human behaviours, embedded mechanisms and embodied expression.

Exhibiting since 2000, Chris Scarborough has received reviews and been included in such surveys as Planet Magazine (2009), Hi Fructose Magazine (2009), NY Arts Magazine (2007 & 2006), ArtPapers Magazine (2006 & 2005), and New American Paintings (2010, 2008, 2004 and 2001) among others. He has had recent solo exhibitions at Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, Curator’s Office in Washington D.C., and Foley Gallery in New York City.

Rino Stefano Tagliafierro is an Italian experimental animator and director based in Milan. His output includes music videos and fashion videos. In addition to collaborating with teams and video artists creating interactive video projections for exhibitions, museums and special events, he has participated in many festivals and competitions, and has received numerous international awards in recognition of his work.

Tristan Pigott‘s work is incredibly striking, provocative, and awkward. These oil paintings are blatant reflections of contemporary youth culture, revealing the careful narcissism of selfies and social media. The concept of portraiture is intertwined with the curated nature of the presentation of the self. Tristan is a British artist who takes traditional portraiture and turns it on its head, making calculated distortions from interesting perspectives to let personalities and personas shine through. The way he portrays his subjects, who are often his friends, is not necessarily flattering. (With no filter, so to speak.)

British artist Jonathan Yeo (b. London, 18 December 1970) is one of the world’s leading portrait artists.
